Charlene, I have 13-17+lb cornishx I raised in my freezer. Tender, home raised, home dressed out, chicken. They look like squat turkeys. It's a lesson in being observant and tweaking feed to raise big, healthy, walking, dust bathing meat birds. Sunshine, outdoor access, poultry feeds, fresh broiler feed with animal protein, and lots of space with good wholesome feed are the keys.

> Hi Teresa, without knowing more I would suspect your son will get Rock-cornish X. These are FAST growing birds usually ready for processing at 10 weeks. Any older an they run the danger broken legs,(they are that heavy) or heart attack. Normally feed is removed from them at night. Most of your supermarket roasters 7-8# or more are Rock-cornish roosters. The little cornish hens at 1-1/2 to 2 lbs are 2 week old hens.
