That is probably the type, as I know someone told me that right after show time, they are processed, because they run the risk of broken legs theya re so heavy. Any advice for a newbie show chicken person? Feeding? Grooming (I think someone said they did give their baths?), etc?

Hi Teresa, without knowing more I would suspect your son will get Rock-cornish X. These are FAST growing birds usually ready for processing at 10 weeks. Any older an they run the danger broken legs,(they are that heavy) or heart attack. Normally feed is removed from them at night. Most of your supermarket roasters 7-8# or more are Rock-cornish roosters. The little cornish hens at 1-1/2 to 2 lbs are 2 week old hens.
