[CHICKENS-101] Re: Egg hatching

The temps are in the 70's during the day and 40's - 50's at night.
I live in central Oklahoma and the coldest months will most likely be December-March.
My chickens are all kept in a very nice hen house at night. (this is where my broody Orpington is sitting on her nest.) The doors are kept closed at night. The hen house is built pretty solid, tho we did not add any insulation inside the walls or roof. The hen house is also sheltered from the winter wind. It's big enough that a heat lamp would not cause the chickens to become over heated. I put the heat lamp off to one side so the chickens can get away from the heat if it's too warm for them. I can move the heat lamp closer to the hen that is sitting on eggs as the temps get colder.
The hen is sitting on 7 eggs. She seems to have no trouble keeping them all underneath her.
I give her fresh water and food as well as kitchen scrap treats every day. She seems to be eating well and doesn't seem to mind me checking on her and petting her several times each day.
