Back in the late 1800's Chuck Darwin did a study of chicken breeds. He came up with 18, I think. Now we have hundreds with a new one evey week. Using DNA todays scientists have traced all breeds back to a couple of Jungle Fowl. These ancestors can still be found not only in their homeland of SE Asia but here in chicken coop all over the country. So almost all the chickens we have today are technically hybrids. Don't tell the 'show people', they get all bent out of shape if you call their chickens mutts. :)
