I have 6 hens which I bought from TSC in the Spring. They all seem very healthy and have been laying since they were about 3 months old. Nice large eggs. Usually 6 per day.
They are what the guy called "red sex link". They are very friendly and we really like them! I have been feeding them Purina laying crumbles. They eat like PIGS! They are in a good sized yard with lots of weeds, grass etc. They also sometimes eat goat pellets and pick at the hay.
I am wondering what other type of feed I can get for them. The bags of this are $17 and they eat a bag every 3 wks or so. In the winter I am guessing it won't last that long. They waste little to none. I also but scratch and give them a cottage cheese container full every morning in the yard. I want them to stay healthy. I know I have read on here (I think) that Purina is not good feed but I think it is all TSC carries. I don't know where else to purchase feed.
Thank you
