We still have 11 Partridge Chanteclers left from our Spring hatching. At just over three months old, we believe there are 4 pullets and 7 cockerels.
This heritage breed is in 'watch' status, since there is concern that breeders are not enabling them to thrive. They originated in Canada, where hatcheries have intense regulations and have all but stopped hatching this breed.
Our main flock, from which these babies hatched, is healthy. The hens hatch most of our eggs, across all breeds, eliminating the need for an incubator most of the year. We do need to remove chicks to a brooder, though, since the hens love to sit and have been known to suffocate the chicks.
We would prefer to find homes for these young ones rather than sending them to freezer camp, due to the status of the breed. At this time, we would appreciate $8/pullet and $5/cockerel, or $55 for all.
Thanks...
Ellen
