I love that name! Dust Bunny, it's adorable! Wish you'd had your cell for pics too. :)

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Wet pullets and easing the drought

Well we're finally getting rain. My poor little pullets have no clue what rain is. It has only sprinkled a couple times since May. So I'm sure there has been more than a few 'chicken little/the sky is falling" moments in the last 24 hours. I have 25 standard size spring pullets. I frequently have to shoo about half of them in every night. So tonight I got to wade in mud and catch 3 of them while shooing in the rest of the 10 silly things that decided to stay outside and get soaked instead of going in the coop door that was less than 6 inches away. Only other chicken people understand what that's all about.
I wished I had my phone with me though. My bantams had all gone to bed on their own. Both babies and adults. There was a pile of fluff butts in the silkie pen (currently have both colors in one pen so Dust Bunny the only adult can mother all the kids). In the other bantam kid's pen the oegb's and nankins were all lined up as neat as can be on their roost. Perfect and priceless.
