Rita, You will probably have to fix the fencing so she can't get into the bins. Or move her and put a nest box in her cage so she gets used to using it.

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] breaking a bad habit
We have 5 pullets this year. They have all finally started to lay. One of them, however, has developed a habit I would like to correct. Under the roost there are `collection bins'. On top of the bins is, what is known around here as, `hog wire" its just a more open fencing than chicken wire. One dear little lady insists on laying her eggs on the roost. I have caught her crawling under the roost rungs walking on the wire. We have a total of 12 hens now (one is 4yrs old and lays a very soft shelled egg about once every 10 –12 days so I don't count her as a layer any more.) and 3 nesting boxes.
How do I stop this pullet from laying her eggs in the poop collection bins?
THanks in advance
