You make me smile reading your posts. :) Which is like having ice cream with cake today. I am still smiling over my day too.
Early this morning my teeny wheaten serama hen Wheaties who has congestive heart failure was laying at an odd angle in her box. She was limp and weakly gasping for air. I could count her heart beats easily and they ranged from 60-65 per minute; 1/4 to 1/5 of what her heart rate should be.
I took her in the living room, gave her a whole atarax instead of half,(out of my bee sting kit),and 1/2 of a baby aspirin for pain, thinking since she was going to die that she'd get to go to sleep peacefully and painlessly on my chest.
Three hours later she started perking up and her heart rate picked up. By noon she went outside for 10 minutes and wobbled around in the dappled sun under my close supervision. Has to a gift from heaven that she did not pass on.
I tried to follow a 6 hr schedule today for her regular dose of atarax and she is still singing and strutting around her box. Wheaties loves her boxes lined with rags, (rags so if her heart acts up and she can't breath and flops around until I can get to her she won't bruise an eye or head again).

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Polish Pullets
In an earlier post, I mentioned that my polish were WILD. Well, I gotta tell you -- today, when I went out to do my daily chick job, the one white polish, just stood there and I got to pick her up!! I thought she would scream and holler, but no. Just was very complacent. Her pal the other polish ran. So there is a grin on my fact that I got to pet my polish.
The 2 black silkies just couldn't believe that I would let them into their yard and not play with them. So, pouting, they ran under the coop.
And folks wonder why I don't have a TV.
California Laurie - Whose face muscles are tired from grinning like an idiot.
