Re: [CHICKENS-101] Egg retrieval

Bruce, I have a reacher/grabber tool I bought at the hardware on clearance for 5.00 and it works great. They are amazingly easy to use. Has a handle on one end that you squeeze to close the two grippers. I use that or a light aluminum hoe. I tried my golf ball retriever for ponds but it worked so so if the eggs were large or fragile.

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Egg retrieval

New group member here.

I've had chickens for several years but my flock from two years ago succumbed to raccoon and 'possum attacks. So I decided not to restart until I built a coop and run that was more varmint-proof.

This year I have a new flock raised from day-old chicks received last February. Just starting to get regular, farm-fresh eggs again. How I missed them!

Anyway, I have one young hen that likes to lay under the roosts (we've all been there, right)? It seems to me there ought to be a device available to retrieve eggs from such out-of-the-way locations without having to stoop, move things around, or disturb the birds so much as I do.

Anyone heard of such a thing? Anyone built such a thing?

Bruce
