[CHICKENS-101] Re: Tell me about Roosters

I would wait and see. I have had chickens for about ten years now and I have had a number fo breeds with roosters. Buff Brahma and Welsummers and Delawares have all been excellent boys. HOWEVER, I have done away with some Delawares, too, and I gave them more than enough chances before I sent them to freezer camp. I had a Coronation Sussex that had an "iffy" attitude, so I just sold him down the highway with full disclousure. Some roosters are hard on the hens and some are not. I happen to like crowing roosters---oh, yes now I remember, that Coronation Sussex would not shut up, and I have some of his offspring who are getting a little loud, but they are all going to Freezer Camp this weekend---I will just keep one to go withthe female.---I really would rather hear crowing than an obnoxious hen squaking all day.----give the guy a chance and don't name him some stupid name like Cocky or Scare Crow. My best roosters are Jimmy, Dave and Wilem.
