[CHICKENS-101] Feeding food scraps the reality of it all

Ok this is what I have found out now that I know we are talking about UK! Not the US! In the US there are NO rules over feeding scraps that I can find. In fact I know farmers that go to factories and buy their scraps for pennies and feed it to their animals. In the UK back in 2001 the government banned the feeding of ANY scraps to chickens and pigs.... Mainly Pigs! Because MAD COW and other diseases where RAMPANT then! And still has issues today. Just not nearly s bad. We have to remember that in the 90s almost all bovine animals there where killed because of disease. We are talking about an island nation that was so terrified because people where dying and mass animal culling. They banned scraps because plant based scraps where being put in bins with meat scraps. And they didn't want the diseases to spread. If a piece of lettuce had blood or tissue or bone on it, it could spread.
The UK has ruled a few years back that private homes MAY feed scraps from their kitchens only. Meat scraps are still kind of a no no. This was done to stop the spread of a rampant disease and to keep their country at ease.
There is nothing wrong with feeding food scraps to your animals. The animals did not get sick because of scraps! They got sick because animals where being fed back diseased animals. Cows won't eat another cow in the wild thus not spreading the disease! But we as humans will take diseased ar dead cows grind them up and put them in animal feed for cows to make the bulk up sooner. Thus spreading the disease! As long as it is not rancid or slimey your animals shouldn't have any issues. So we shouldn't have any reservations in feeding them.
