Re: [CHICKENS-101] Winterized Coop

Sam, I'd insulate the ceiling with sheet insulation to prevent condensation. Next, I'd make sure the walls do not have cracks where drafts can blow across your chickens. Drafts are serious bad news for poultry. Where ever you insulate make sure the chickens can't get to it. Do you have provisions for ventilation with no drafts too?

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Winterized Coop

Helllo,

I live in Upstate New York and I am in the process of refurbishing a shed to house 10 chickens. The shed is roughly 6'x6' and 7 feet high. Given these dimensions is it necessary to insulate the coop if I am using a heat lamp.

Thank you for your help regarding this matter.
Sam
