[CHICKENS-101] Re: Let the crowing commence

 

A note on using Zip Ties; you can get colored ties at Dollar Tree; they come in several different "bright" Sizes/Colors per package; usually Green, Blue, & Pink. Makes it easy to sex by color

When attaching; you could use the smaller ties on chicks, insure that they will be a little loose as the chick grows; if you band the hens; you can replace the small ties as the chick enters the "teen-stage" with the larger band; having different colors can help mark problem or possible "culls" for later on... When you attach the tie & clip it off; use a lighter & lightly heat the end to seal it into the tie end; this will prevent accidental pecking, or tightening of the band..
