Re: [CHICKENS-101] Starter Books (was sick chick--NOW Shavings?)

<<Can you recommend a good starter book on raising Chickens??>>

Someone noted Damerow's books--and as a newbie myself, additional ones I've found especially helpful are Harvey Ussery's "The Small Scale Poultry Flock" and Joel Salatin's "Pastured Poultry Profit$."  (The latter is aimed more at poultry as a business, but still well worthwhile, especially if anyone's raising meat birds and has some grass available.)  The GRIT "Guide to Backyard Poultry is a good basic guide that's an easy read, too--magazine format with various articles and lots of resouces.  Great article on how to put together a small brooder box for chicks!
