Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Introduction

Hi, I'm Karen. I live in Oklahoma with my husband and our (college student) daughter. We have horses, Dexters, honey bees, and as of this morning, chicks.
My husband and I decided on Buff Orpingtons so I bought a dozen of them this morning. I am using a livestock water tank for a brooder. I put pine shavings in the bottom, added a feeder and a waterer. Attatched a heat lamp and then added the chicks.
I'm hoping we end up with mostly hens since we really don't want more than one or two roosters.
At what age should I be able to tell the hens from the roos?

Karen
