You don't want to crack it open.  Wait abouat 5 days and candle t he egg.  If it is fertile you will see red streaks in the egg.  And possibly a small dark spot.   How long has the hen been with a rooster and how long has she been laying eggs?   Susan

Does anyone know how I can tell if an egg is fertilized by cracking it open? Also, if it is the next few eggs will be, correct? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
