Mine do that occasionally. I feed them shells as we eat eggs and actually stops them eating the eggs. I think like I said it's a diet problem. We supplement the crached corn and lay pellets with all kinds of stuff and usually don't have a problem. Remember chickens are omnivores, there's not much they won't eat. There's also a coop I saw that the eggs were rolled out of the nest as soon as they're layed you could look into that also. Angela
