[CHICKENS-101] Re: Dog Food and Frozen Honeybees

Hi Brenda: OK the OLD MAN will speak..lol..
Chickens can tell the difference between weeds and seedlings in the garden. They have a deffinate preferance for seedlings. Chckens also are very happy roto tilling any soil looking for worms. In a very short time they can turn any garden into a wastland. So you are correct, it not a great idea.
Feeding dog food is also not a great idea. Dogs don't grow feathers or lay eggs, so dog food don't have the stuff chickens need. A little additional protien is OK but dry cat food is better,in very small amounts.
Free ranging your chickens will provide them with about the best chicken food there is. Even being "trucked" around is good for them. It comes down to what is can you do.
