Very nice article, Janice. I think this is a great subject for the Master Gardner's program and I agree that backyard chicken keeping is indeed, a new trend. What's old often becomes new again, eh?
Many folks are once again, raising their own food for consumption and there is a lot of interest in raising chickens these days so I'm sure your article will be of interest to many.
If you get the chance, you might want to bring up how nice guineas in the garden can be by eating bugs; they don't scratch like chickens do and won't disturb plants. A good book on guineas, 'Gardening with Guineas', Jeanette S. Ferguson.
Hope you'll also consider adding some information on reference books for raising chickens...heeheehee...couldn't resist slipping that in ;)
