[CHICKENS-101] Chopping of Heads

Re. the "chopping of heads"... From what I've been checking out, "killing cones" look like a very good option--seems like less stress on the chicken, less chance for error, cleaner.

--------------

I've been on this list for, oh maybe a year now. I don't post much as I don't have my chickens yet. Gotta get that coop built! We have a friend who has offered to hatch some eggs for us from his mutt layers, so I think we will start there and gradually move into the Buff Orps.

Anyway, when I was a kid, we used the hatchet method as well. We didn't use a cone, but a burlap sack with one corner cut out of it. The chicken went into the sack head first and the head came out the hole in the corner. We kept ahold of the chicken by the legs, put the other end on a chopping block and..... well you get the picture. You can quickly wrap a twine on the outside of the sack around the legs and when the deed is done, you don't have to worry about the chicken running around headless. You can get those sacks at Tractor Supply. Last year we paid $0.99 for them.
