[CHICKENS-101] Building a small chicken coop

Hi,

I have searched the internet and how to books looking for plans to build a small, inexpensive chicken coop. I have kept a small layer flock for many years but always had a pre-exhisting building to use as my coop. I recently moved and am ready to start a new flock but need to build a coop. My husband and son want to build it this weekend but we would like to have a "plan" we can look at to purchase the materials. I thought for sure that I could find plans online for free but haven't found anything as yet and am running out of time. I have looked at so many of the how to build books for coops but they don't give good plans or materials list. They give lots of pictures, flock management info but nothing really to use to build.

This is what I have in mind. My flock will be a maximum of 15 hens. I would like a small slant roof type building with front wall 4 foot high and then wire. Roofing will be the corigated fiberglass. Maybe 7 feet high at the front slanted down to maybe 5 feet in the back where the nest boxes will be. Maybe 8 by 6 or 8 by 8? We want to be able to buy the amount of lumber that would be the least wasteful in cutting. My husband and son can build nice things but need an this info to get started so we don't waste money on materials and time on trips to the lumber yard.

If anyone can direct me to some free plans or recomment a good book that has detailed plans for something close to what I have described please reply to my email lambshill@yahoo.com
