Scot, I've found my white rocks and standard WLR cornish, bantam WLR cornish are doing fine with our cold weather. I prefer my white rock rooster over the barred rock roosters I have had in the past. My cornish roosters are as gentle and intelligent as my white rock roosters. In the past I have had standard dominques aka dominacers, (sp?),per my father, brown leghorns, bantam and standard cochins. Cochins are as bad as silkies about going broody. My brown leghorns were gorgeous and gentle tempered, and did well with the cold too.

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Docile breed
What is the most docile breed of chicken that is still a good layer, and can handle the cold? I live in Wisconsin.
Based on past experience - I'm not sure I believe everything the hatchery catalog says!
Thanks,
