I keep my Silkies, Serama boys and other bantam chickens in the house,
mainly because of the weather being too hot or cold for bantams, partly
because they are so entertaining. I try to take turns letting each of
them out. My two cats will look and occasionally sniff, but will leave
them alone for the most part. They are supervised with the chickens.
Chickens are less messier than ducks in the house - Don't think I will
have another duck in the house, after Doo-Doo. But chickens are
dustier, because of how they like to bathe. I got a Macaw cage from a
man who works with my husband, and it has a deep bottom, which will mean
less sweeping for me, and with sciatica, less sweeping is good. I just
need rubber tips with felt glued on the tips, to keep from marring and
ruining my linoleum. If you keep up with the dust, you'll be OK.
