I'm in Alaska -- worst winter EVER in 8 years I've been here, have red/black sex links, tree tore through the coop roof in November, it's been WAY below zero for weeks on end. How can I make life easier/warmer for them? I'm afraid to go full out and put a 250 watt red heat lamp in -- we've been losing power regularly, and they seem okay, but they have a huge draft with hole in roof. Dirt floor frozen solid. Roost has red 75 watt flood lamp, and is surrounded in plastic, with open below -- I feed scratch/canned corn, bread 2 times daily; take room temp water out 2x daily. Anything else you can suggest? Freeze expected to last another week; it's been off & on 10 weeks of 10 degrees to below zero daily. Thanks for any advice....xo
