Re: [CHICKENS-101] Why not Purina

Hi Marla, I am here.  I received many emails from members and decided to quietly rejoin.  You explained better than I could.  Between all the different live stock, cats, and dogs, putrina has killed, that company should have had many gov. sanctions and fines, been divided up.  They are also Land O Lakes, very powerful and huge, and can poison and do as they want, plus get away with it. I do not buy people or animal food from them.  Seems since they opened their china plant they have had more and more trouble.

I'm not sure who you are asking but for me personally I have several reasons. 1. I first noticed several years ago when I'd feed Purina instead of local milled feed my birds production would drop and they'd occasionally lose weight. 2. I've seen multiple recalls over the years and that makes me nervous for my birds health to give them something that would need recalled so often I might be feeding them tainted feed. 3. Fresher is usually better so the fact that I have 2 feed mills that grind up great poultry feed within 6 miles of my home for similar price (for the organic) to cheaper (for good but not certified organic) than Purina it just makes more since to buy fresh and local.
That's my deal at least. Cathryn (who isn't on here anymore) lost a lot of her show birds, that she had worked for years on their breeding, to bad feed from Purina that got her sick as well and took years for her to begin her recovery.
