RE: [CHICKENS-101] Coopers hawk

These dog using hunters are such a farce!  The dogs wear radio collars, chase the deer and the hunters then use the radios to locate the dogs ……racing up and down roads they have no business on, too!  What really pisses me off is that our subdivision is a former tree farm and divided into ten parcels of land ranging from 10 acres to 40.  We are the ONLY owners who have built and live back here BUT all it takes is the developer giving his permission for these hunters to come back here.  I hate it.  I don’t have a thing against hunters who obey the laws, don’t trespass and actually hone their skills, not just chase after their dogs.  Six of the parcels have sold, but we are the only owners who have built.  The forty acre parcel is used by hunters and people who want to take a short cut through the woods………it is maddening to have cars racing down our little country lane and by the time the sheriff gets here (when called) the hunters are gone. (they have police radios, too)

I love our farm but I really hate these rednecks around here that think they have “squatters rights”.

            Max hates them too. ;-)

Laura, our pyrs were always after anything flying too. Our male killed any thing that got in the pen with "his" goats that wasn't "allowed". He loved people though but our female only trusted certain people in with the goats. They made the perfect team.
That's crazy about your state allowing dogs help hunt deer. They don't need them in my opinion.
My pet pyr is cool with other dogs though she is territorial. It's the aussie and cairn terrier who make the most noise about stray dogs and squirrels. The lgd pyr though has a reputation. My dad leases out his fields to a local farmer. He warned him not to bring along his dogs while on the property. The farmer thought my dad was kidding. My lgd jumped the fence and pulled his german shepherd off the back of the truck. He got his dog after a bit, put her in the cab, and went to my dads house to apologize. I was worried he'd be mad, he wasn't, he was embarrassed. Morgan (the lgd) takes her job seriously. I wish I could bring her in town, but her fence jumping capabilities would get both of us in trouble. She is however good with chickens.
