Ed, I agree. There really isn't much to be done about hawks. I've tried everything and it only works for a few days before they catch on.
Hawks are designed to kill and they do it very well. The only real way to deter them is to lock your birds up for a couple of weeks in the hopes that the hawks will move on. They often do but of course, there will be others to take their place so you have to keep a vigilant eye out for them.
Where I am, most of the hawks (not all) migrate south so around this time of year, the threat of them lurking about is much less.
