I don't want to get into another brangle on the list but had to take a bit of an issue with this statement of " but there are time when animal rights groups are far too overzealous in their removing of animals."
There is nothing wrong with animal 'rights'. Animals should have the same rights to food, water and clean shelter as we expect for ourselves.
Very few animal groups of any kind take it upon themselves to remove animals and birds UNLESS there is a good reason. Having been on the sharp end of the stick on many occasions I know this to be true. Until you've seen the squalor and devastation caused by human neglect first hand and VERY personal, blythe comments like this one gives the impression that caring people simply steal animals for no good reason. Sadly the laws are so skewed towards human property ownership that in many states the poor beasts just languish and die by tiny increments.
I just want to bring up one point here. He may of signed a realease form, but under what circumstances? Many of the cases like this I have looked into, the animal owner was threatened with dire consequences if he refused to sign them over, including jail time, etc. Not defending him or anything, but there are time when animal rights groups are far too overzealous in their removing of animals.
