RE: [CHICKENS-101] Opinions?? Wing Clipping-mean or protective??

Mary,

> Ok,my beautiful girls (seven) have become adventuresome and like to go
outside of their 1/4 acre fenced-in-area

anything you can do to the existing fence to keep them in? What kind of
fencing and how high? Maybe they just need a bit more entertainment in
their current area.
Have you tried putting out some flakes of hay and/or straw, maybe apples
hanging from strings and stuff like that to keep them happy where they are?

I've had one this summer who would fly out, then lay her eggs in a well
hidden spot and then I had to let her back in when I came home for lunch,
first I thought she got out by accident, then I noticed the pattern, then I
found about 12 eggs. After I removed the eggs she stopped flying out. She
was really lucky that it was so hot that my dogs didn't come outside to
mess with her, I thought about re-homing her for her own safety, but she
stopped doing it just when I decided re-homing was the best option.
My point is that maybe your chickens somehow think the grass is greener on
the other side.
