Hi Mary. If it were me I would clip them.I'd be too scared of them getting splattered by a car Obviously you have to weigh the sittuation up & decide which is the riskier. Them getting run over or a possible preditor eating them. Have they got places they could hide if something came visiting? I don't know?
I know how you feel, as I have to lock my flock of 18 in their compound for most of the day. To stop them killing all the grass.
In summer they get about 5 hrs free, but in winter its about 2 hrs as my back garden just could not take it.
I am lucky my house backs on to so many other houses a fox would have so much trouble getting over all their 7 foot fences by the time it might reach us I think it would be too knackered to climb over.
