Thanks to everyone for the replies. My incubator is the $45, Little Giant. The heater is located under a hunk of plastic and I can't see how it works. I think I know what the problem is now that I have read everyone's suggestions and I know the solution is to suffer through it until I finally decide to tell my husband that he needs to spend another chunk of change on my obsession, (my brooder was $400) which he will with a smile, but we just ordered a wood burning stove so that I won't freeze for the 12th winter in a row in this house and that takes precedence. I have nothing better to do all day but manipulate the temperature on my incubator so that is what I will do for now. I am a chicken mommy by occupation.
New question: What is the best chunk of change incubator available? It needs to be small because we live in a tiny house. Christmas is coming and I am a spoiled brat. :-)
