Ro and Cathryn,
Don’t feel less than smart about sweaters on chickens. Right now, there are penguins that are being clothed in knitted sweaters to keep them warm until their turn to have oil cleaned off their feathers. My sister sent me the link and they are adorable. If I can find it, I’ll send it in and I guess penguins don’t have the same range of motion our chickens do.

That’s ok, I hope I didn’t insult anyone that tried this. In theory it is a good idea, I mean we make sweaters for our dogs and I heard someone making a sweater for her ferret, but it is too dangerous for any animal that we are not monitoring all the time. They do look adorable in them though don't they?
Yes the material has to be something like the material used for their diapers which is another story that I will leave alone. Someday I may need them if I am left with only one chicken and I may have to bring it in the house.
