a) Turkens, Austrolorp, Dominique, Black Star, some mutts, EE Bantams,Jap Bantams, Silkies, Polish,Seramas. At the moment. I've had LOTS of breeds over the years.
b) Eggs/pets, breeding
c) Delaware
d) Turkens - cause I love the look. They are also good layers, and can deal with temp changes. Black Star's were my first chicks, I still have 1 hen left. Silkies ,Polish, Jap Bantams, and Seramas cause of the look and for breeding.
I do a lot of research on breeds I see in catalogs, shows, that sorta thing and then decided what is going to work for me. I have a preference for the "different". It's a lot of fun trying to explain a Turken to one who has never seen one before. "Is that a turkey? Is that bird sick?" LOL! Because there are 2 business's on the property we have people here that have never seen a chicken other than from the grocery.
Ordering the mystery mix is also a good way to experience new breeds.
