Wow that is amazing. I am glad your hens were ok in that cold. I too thought that she might come in when the weather got bad so I figured I would let nature take its course, but I just learned nature may just eat her, foxes do climb trees I just sent that article, I am going after her tonight I would never forgive myself if a fox ate her.
Thanks

I've had guineas roost in the trees during the winter when it was below zero...for DAYS. One time is was five days; no food or water, wind, snow and freezing temps. One by one, they gave up and came home. The last one wouldn't budge and by the fifth day, he was a friggin' popsicle. I had to knock him out of the tree with a 20 foot pole where he kerplopped on top of the snow and let me grab him. He had a bit of frost bite to a couple of toes but other than that, none of them were worse for the wear. Hard to believe.
Needless to say, the guineas now get locked up for the winter.
I've never had chickens do this, they always come in and normally don't want to put up with cold, rainy or snowy weather. Guineas on the other hand, have about as much sense that Mother Nature gave a lemon.
Hopefully, your chicken will forget her bad experience soon and head for home ;)
