Re: [CHICKENS-101] Combs and Wattles

I'd guess it's just the differences between the hens and their ages.  Different breeds, different combs.

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Combs and Wattles

Taking Cathryn's advice, I have isolated my "Alpha" Buff Orpington from the other two birds in my "flock" of three (so far). Hope being in solitary for a few days makes her let up on the Coronation Sussex I tried to introduce yesterday.

A question though. My Buff Orpington and Barred Plymouth Rock are supposed to be 8-months old as is the Coronation Sussex. However, while the Sussex's comb and wattle are pronounced and quite red (she's apparently close to laying age), the combs and wattles on the Orpington and Plymouth Rock are small to the point of being hardly noticeable. Is something wrong here? Thanks!
