Bonnie, I use cabbage, broccoli, and brussel sprout plants for entertainment for my birds in the fall. Right now it's zucchini and chickweed. The next time I go up north I will bring back 10-12 bales of alfalfa for the winter months.

Hi, The farmer I got my pulleys from suggested hanging cabbage heads in the winter to keep them from getting bored. I threw in a cut in half cabbage head the day Irene hit just for some diversion. I also threw in some wild bird seed and freeze dried meal worms. They usually get that in their outside pen in the warmer months. I figured if they were going to be "cooped up" pardon the pun, they might as well have some fun!!!
