Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Re: Eating Non-Traditional Meats
I had a bad experience with a couple Shetland pony's when I was young; I'd carve one of them into steaks in a heartbeat.
In the Indian War days; the Indian's developed a taste for "Army Mule" if they raided the Calvary & made off with horses & mules; the mules were consumed for a celebration feast; they also ate horse; but I recall several articles/books telling of the fondness for Mule meat. I believe it was mentioned in the book "Bury my heart at Wounded Knee."
There are a few things I won't try to eat; but will eat most meat animals. As mentioned in another reply to this subject; I've eaten Eel; it's ok; but very strong "fishy" tasting. Alligator is primo as a dinner. I'm glad my mother/aunt encouraged me to be adventerous & be willing to try different foods. As a very young child I was around an Uncle who hunted & also gathered various wild foods (veggie/herbs/ect)...
