Yes I noticed at our county fair this last week that there were more feathers being shed then in years past. My guess was the heat was stressing them and causing a molt or semimolt. My ducks decided to molt after they set eggs. They of course picked the worst summer in their lives to go broody.
Odd weather one way or the other can cause stress causing a molt as can improper nutrition. So if your birds have a good balanced diet it's probably your weather.
