I have a few black rocks like that, but much earlier - about 5am... eggcellent layers, but skinny and neurotic so not for the pot. I give mine greens or some other treat and go back to bed. They have few manners, but the ones they do have at least extend to not talking with their mouths full....but they'll shout at anything - even the squirrel. even the tree creepers and wrens. dumbo hens. at least the ex batts had worked out what was worth stressing over ;-D
