Re: [CHICKENS-101] Chipmunk Chick

I'm sorry, Di, I know the pain.  I found the little body of one of my beautiful chicks today and it hurt a lot.  It had become buried in the pen shavings when it was first killed.  Life is sad sometimes.

I just came in from stringing rope  in my big chicken yard and while I was out there, balancing on a ladder, a hawk or buzzard flew over.  Trees are too thick to tell the difference.  I have to put my boarding Silkies into a pen tonight.  I've already lost one of her Dorkings!

My poor little tiny chipmunk chick died last night. It was so much smaller than the others; I should have kept it quarantined in it's own brooder. Sigh.

The others are still feisty as all get out and don't seem to have any remose whatsoever. If I hadn't removed the little one, they probably would have eaten it. They are, after all, chickens.

Back to four - at least until I see if anything hatches out of the incubator...........
