I have no idea what is wrong with that darn bator. Maybe it let's too much humidity escape when you open it to turn the eggs. I usually turn mine up until two days before hatch and then they would be almost fully developed. The membrane is just all sucked up around the chick.
I did manage to save three that had pipped and had been too long. Good thing I opened them because they were barely alive. All are fine now and eating and drinking already. Three tiny Seramas.
