I had an impromptu dinner party tonight. I made my boys promise that under no circumstances was the brooder box to be touched... didn't think about the incubator.
Came in after everyone left and the temp in the incubator read 108!!!!!!!!!
J freaked... through the lid off and let them cool. Reset the thermostat... uh!! What the????????????
Candled the eggs. 3 are at that dark cloudy questionable stage. But one I know is lost.
Then I picked up an egg and it had a hole in it!! Lol! And it peeped at me! I put it back....
Then we got Dietra out. When she came out of the egg, one wing was bloody. All babies are bloody when they are born. Never thought much about it. Day 3 I thought it would be ok to wash it.... the best way I can describe what I found is a "Club wing", with no skin on the inside. My heart just sank! She is such an imprinted, healthy talkive little bugger, and to find such a large open "wound". My son put a dab of Red Coat on it and we made a bandaide for her. I am jus sick. She doesn't know she is a chicken and will run straight to your face to give you kisses.... ugh! I just want to cry.
