Angelique, There are double benefits of jiggling the spur covering off. The tender spur will not be used for fighting and the rooster will tend to be a bit gentler with the hens while his spurs are tender. When the hard keratin covering grows back you just jiggle it off again. Cathryn
I'm hoping not to have to do this but I've noticed a couple of "the boys" are getting some impressive spurs. One of the roosters I have you can tell someone cut off the spur and now it has a DOUBLE spur. :( :love: Angelique_,_._,___
