Remember the article in thepoultrysite.com? Has to do something with shell room and CO2 and O exchange in the albumin and pores of the shell. People have been able to hatch a few over many years of trying. The eggs were laid on their side. More often the chicks died in the shell long before hatch date. The eggs that hatched had help. Not much room for two chicks be able to move around in their shell to break the membrane and the shell.
If chickens, (not house birds),were given scraps of avacado flesh and they only ate a little bit, I doubt it would it hurt them. Since there seems to be a debate and avacados are very expensive here there is no danger of my chickens getting any. I think George mentioned something about not letting them eat the seeds that had us laughing for days. Cathryn

I've heard that double yolk eggs will not develop properly but I don't know of anyone who has tried it. I haven't.
I, and lots of my cocker friends, give our chickens orange with only good effects. However avocado contains a poison to birds. I can't remember its name but I'll bet Cathryn knows.
