Shelley, There is corn in their scratch, plus corn in their feed. My custom mix is 20% animal protein, no soy. (Wheat, oats, corn, white millet,sunflower hearts; grains in order of % used.) Soy is not digestible easily by birds. I feel soy is not a good protein source for chickens.Cathryn

So you feed corn? I know it's an ingredient in most commercial feeds, but I stopped feeding any corn to our horses a few years ago based on all the GM corn out there. Was thinking about trying the sqme with the chickens eventually.
 
Why "animal protien" vs vegetable protien, and what protien % are you going for with your cuatom mix.
