When our chickens mowed the chives down we had complaints that their eggs had a faint onion taste. The chickens ate several large plants down to stubs. Considering how large the yard and gardens were it made no sense that the hens decided to eat the chives. (I was a kid then; the chives today are still under the grape vines.). Cathryn
I've never had any onion or garlic flavor come through to the eggs. And no body has ever told me they could taste onion or garlic in eggs they got from me either. And the only plant material I don't feed my chickens is avocado or really moldy veggies.
