RE: [CHICKENS-101] New member

Hi Ruth, your website is great.  And I recognize the locations of other list members who have dropped in there.

Which GQF do you have?  I recently picked up an 1602N and the turner on eBay but have not used them yet.  A couple of Silkies are hatching chicks though.  : )

New members are on moderation until Petie-Poo decides you're not going to advocate the overthrow of chickendom.  But as for a missing post, it might just be that Yahoo is being wonky.

You're right about limiting the breeds.  I love my pair of Lakenvelders, but don't plan on getting more.  They have to stay in the big chicken yard with other odd come shorts.  They would beat themselves silly if they were in one of my 5X10 pens, trying to get 6 blocks away from me every time I show up.  They are the most chickens I've ever known.

We have Call ducks, 2 pair of whites and 2 extra mallard colored drakes.  One duck had begun laying and I was hoping she would set, but my &%^#@ dog got into their yard and consumed all 5 eggs.  The nonobaddog has yet to be forgiven.  Just for punishment I gave her a bath yesterday!

Well, we are under a tornado watch (not warning, just watch) so I'm going out and move some 'stuff' that has already fallen over and could become airborne and end up a county away.

I live in Martindale, Texas. I have a site called farmerinthemartindale.com
Funny thing I sent a reply earliaer about the types of chickens I have and it never posted. do they censor this site????I did not say anything offensive. I have Show quality Barred rocks from the frank reese bloodlines, BLR Wyandottes from Bill braden line, Welsummers, Mottled Javas, GL Wyandottes and Pumpkin Halsey gamefowl from Greenfire farms. I also have white, coral blue and lavendar guineas, mallards and geese. I hatch my own birds, in a GQF. I have purchased birds from Ideal, they have decent hatchery birds,  before but I have decided to do APA guidelines for the standard of perfection. I also have my flock of layers and they are an assortment of just chickens. I love them the most. I love Polish and silkies also and had them before. I decided to do 5 breeds of chickens and thats it. I will be going to the show in Shawnee Oklahoma just to look. Thanks Ruth
