Hi Jane, Happy Sunday! Hitch probably had to fight all fo the dominant hens for his place in his new flock. Hope his leg heals fast. Your momma will be fine. She has good food,Clean water, good shelter,a beautiful garden to sun and play in, and other chickens to cuddle up with. Cathryn
Here here Cath!
They are properly shut down for the night tonight, & all waterers are inside the alley way to our house where they won't freeze.
It has been really bad these last few days & is apparently going to continue for some time yet.
I did mention to you Cath that momma is going through a second mault, didn't I ? It is rather worrying that she always chooses to do it so late in the year, Nov. Same time last year, it can't be good for her when the weather is soooo cold?
Do you think I should bring her in at night? She does snuggle up with the others.
Hey, we stopped by on the way back from chapel today to see hitch, his new owner, Maureen loves him already.
She said he crows more in the afternoon & no he hasn't been keeping them awake. Whew sigh of releif.
He has developed a limp , which she did mention but does not know how it happened but I had a chicken that this happened to last year & after a few days she was fine so hopefully he will recover soon.
He is very at home there but in all fairness he is now with girls who are more his coluor, redish orange with beige, where he is redish orange with black. I'm so happy for him.Jane & Co : ) : ) : ) : ) : ) : )
