Re: [CHICKENS-101] Morning in the chicken coop

No opossums in our neck of the woods but we do have raccoons. I would suspect raccoons BUT...raccoons have done mass slaughter just for the sheer joy of it all here when they would "visit" in past years. I have had no chickens killed by anything other than my own pugs from time time and that was because they flew into the dogs` areas so really my own fault. Jules Pizzolato

Raccoons and opossums give off that same slight skunky musky odor.  Unless skunks have sprayed recently, they do not usually smell.  You have a one in three chance that you have a skunk. Cathryn

OH MY GOODNESS!!!! LOL...I know that we have skunks visit us here from time to time because of the slight "skunky" musky odor that lingers once in a while. I think they come in and find the hidden eggs that I haven`t located from errant hens. They really have never caused any problems so I hope it stays that way. What a shocker for you to find that one in your trap! LOL...Kodak moment for SURE! Jules Pizzolato in rainy chilly North Idaho
